My distinctive way of working
What sets my practice apart? I am deeply attuned to relationships and attachment patterns, noticing the subtle emotional undercurrents that others might miss. My approach balances profound compassion with practical realism, grounded in natural reflection and lived experience. Having worked across multiple mental health settings, I bring a rich and experienced skillset to our sessions, ensuring a comprehensive and empathetic counselling journey.
My qualifications and expertise
I hold a first class honours in counselling from the University of Hull, and my training includes specialised areas such as Anxiety Disorders, Understanding Trauma & PTSD, Neuroscience of C-PTSD, ADHD, Trauma Recovery, Understanding Narcissism, and Narcissistic Abuse Recovery.
This comprehensive background ensures a well rounded and informed approach to your therapeutic journey where you feel truly supported.
My Integrative Approach to Counselling
My integrative approach to counselling allows me to draw from a variety of therapeutic models, ensuring sessions are tailored to each individual client. I recognise that each person's journey is distinct, and counselling is not a one-size-fits-all approach. By blending elements from different modalities, I can more effectively address your unique needs and challenges to ensure you are supported in the best possible way.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. By identifying negative thought patterns, we can work together to develop healthier perspectives. This practical approach is particularly effective for managing anxiety and depression, helping you to develop coping strategies that empower you to face life's challenges.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy delves into the unconscious processes that shape your thoughts and behaviours. By exploring past experiences and emotional conflicts, we can uncover the root causes of current difficulties. This deeper understanding can lead to significant personal insights and long-lasting change.
Gestalt Therapy
Gestalt therapy emphasises awareness and personal responsibility. It encourages you to focus on the present moment and your immediate experiences. Through techniques such as role-playing and guided imagery, we can enhance your self-awareness, helping you to understand how your thoughts and feelings impact your behaviour.
Person-Centred Therapy
In person-centred therapy, I provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment where you feel safe to express your thoughts and feelings. This approach fosters self-exploration and personal growth, allowing you to discover your own solutions and develop a stronger sense of self-worth.
Humanistic Approach
The humanistic approach emphasises the inherent potential within each individual. It focuses on your capacity for self-actualisation and personal development. By fostering a genuine therapeutic relationship, I aim to help you unlock your potential and live a more fulfilling life.
By integrating these diverse therapeutic approaches, I aim to provide a holistic counselling experience. Together, we can explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a way that resonates with you, facilitating meaningful change and growth. Your journey is unique, and I am here to support you every step of the way.
